Life really is like a roller coaster ride, and it’s just the same for a celebrity. The force that pulls them to become famous can also drag them down in a downward spiral, complete with drug and alcohol addictions, tarnished reputations, health problems and in some tragic instances, death. Many people do not realize that celebrities have a lot of pressure put on them to be perfect for their fans and that pressure often takes a negative toll. Here are 10 celebrities who have gone to rehab during their careers.
Steven Tyler, the front man for rock band, Aerosmith, has suffered from drug and alcohol addictions for years. He went to rehab for the first time back in 1986 for his cocaine addiction, but he says it wasn’t much like a rehab, but a mental institution instead. Steven completed the program successfully, and managed to stay completely sober until the 2000’s when he became addicted to prescription painkillers. He went back to rehab in 2008 for his addiction to the painkillers and again, successfully completed his program.
He has remained sober since his last stint at the Las Encinas Hospital’s rehab program and has stated that going to AA meetings is what keeps him on the straight and narrow, because talking to other people about their problems helps significantly and lets him know he isn’t alone. Steven has also said that every day is a battle against his addiction but that he is going to remain sober, no matter what it takes and will continue with his AA meetings.
